Campbell Global bought the Snoqualmie Forest from Hancock Forest Management in December 2015, and is continuing their policy of requiring permits for recreational access, with a slightly higher price. Annual permits are $50, daily permits are $8, and can be purchased online at their website: https://www.sqrecreation.com/
Although Hancock Forest Management has sold their White River Forest holdings to the Muckleshoot Tribe, they are still administering the recreational access permit program on the tribe's behalf. Permits are $45/year or $8/day, purchasable from their website: https://www.hancockrecreationnw.com/white-river/about/about-white-river
To purchase a permit, go to the site above for the forest you're
interested in and follow the appropriate links.
For Hancock, click on the
appropriate type of permit (probably "Non-motorized Recreation
Access Permit for Individuals") on the left-hand side. You will be asked to agree to a
waiver of liability (you
can read a sample ahead of time here) and to the Rules and Regulations
(below) before buying the permit, and payment is accepted through
PayPal only. Hancock FM will then send you an email with a link to
your permit, which you then print out and carry with you on your
ride, along with photo ID. They also suggest printing a second copy
and putting it on your windshield if parked near a trailhead. I
suggest printing a few backup copies as well, in case of damage.
For Campbell, the "FAQs" link at the top of the
page contains an Online Permit Purchase item that gives some info,
but to actually get a permit, click on the link at the bottom of the
page for the type of permit you want. NOTE that the "Annual
Non-motorized Permit for Families" is the same as for individuals --
if you want an annual permit, that's the link to click on. Add the
permit to your "cart" and checkout.
