Kathryn Taylor Equestrian Park Work Party

When:     Saturday, May 7th, 2016

                  10:00am-2:00pm

Where:  The Kathryn Taylor Park

Located east of Woodinville, north of Trilogy, just north of the Tolt Pipeline Trail with 232nd Ave NE and Fallbrook to the east, and 142nd Pl. to the north, and Lake of the Woods to the west. Detailed directions and more information about the KTEP can be found in a link at:

www. kingcountyexecutivehorsecouncil.org

Why: In order of importance:

1.) Need to rake back sand, around edges of arena, and kick boards in round pen in order to pull adjacent panel posts closer and secure them with metal collars;  2.) Cut down large Evergreen blackberries on top of the zig-zag trail; 3) Cut down or pull out a few small Cottonwood and Red Alder saplings sprouting up in rock drain ditches along maintenance road between parking lot and detention ponds;

Equestrian users have been doing a good job "leaving no trace" especially in the parking lot, but we need volunteers for the above projects. King County P&R has been doing a wonderful job dragging the arena, round pen, and parking lot with their new Gravel Rascal, repairing broken kick panels in the round pen, and building new wooden decks on the three Collins Creek bridges nearby.

Who:      Everyone is welcome to come and help, especially equestrians who use the facility.  This is a great opportunity for students, Scouts, 4-Hers, etc., needing to complete volunteer hours.  Even 1 or 2 hours of time will help.  It’s not necessary to stay entire time. Please tell your friends.

What to bring:  King County Parks & Rec. will provide a truck load of  tools and gloves, however extra rakes marked with your name may be needed. Rain gear.  Bottled water and light snacks will be provided.
